"It's a Magical Life!"

Cathy Hill

Gallery 1 & 2 (Preview on Thursday 4 October)

5 - 14 October
I am a Kent based artist, inspired by both land and sea. This exhibition is a collection of my art work, representing 25 years of developing my unique style. I work mostly to commission now, creating pictures for people of the places that are special to them and discovering the personal magic that the place holds for them. My pictures express my joy and love of life. I hope that they will be infectious and delight, enthral and uplift people.

I studied at Maidstone College of Art in the early 1980’s and am always thrilled by the work of Marc Chagall, Henri Rousseau, Geoffrey Keys and Anna Pugh. I am married with four grown up children. Teaching and inspiring children has been a huge part of my life’s work. The exhibition will host weekday workshops for school children, exploring the theme: “magic –realism” and “what is magical in our own lives?” Visitors to the exhibition will be given the opportunity to have a go at creating a little piece of art using Cathy’s technique. This will then be cut out and collaged into a big collaborative art piece.

This is an exciting venture for me - having a big solo show. I would like to raise my profile as a visual artist and also raise awareness about the Social Enterprise Company that I am putting together- “It’s a Magical Life!” - printing my designs onto fabrics and other products for the home, and, at the same time, funding inspirational tutors for children with academic learning difficulties, helping them realise their own unique skills, potential and possibilities for their own life. .
